Privacy policy
Version 1.0 · Effective 1 November 2026
Who we are
Fluency Studio is operated by Corefold Labs LLC, registered in California, United States (“we”, “us”). This policy explains how we handle personal information when you use the Fluency Studio app and website. For questions or privacy requests, contact support@corefoldlabs.com.
Information we collect
- Your account: account identifier, name, email address and the sign-in method you choose (Apple, Google or an email link). If you use Hide My Email with Apple, we receive the relay address, not your own.
- Your talks: in Live, the audio of your talk and a transcript of what you and Atlas said. In Lite, the text of what you and Atlas said, with no audio. We also keep the mode and topic, and what we create from your talks: recaps, scores and feedback, upgraded sentences, phrases, roasts and the pictures for your phrases. Talks too short to give useful feedback are discarded rather than kept.
- What Atlas knows about you: notes on your goals, interests, topics, estimated level and the slips you make, built from your answers and from your Live and Lite talks so Atlas can pick up where you left off. This includes any topics you ask Atlas not to bring up.
- Your settings: your default mode (Live or Lite), Atlas’s speaking pace, your picture style, notifications, your practice reminder time, appearance and similar choices.
- Device information: if you allow notifications, a device token so we can tell you when something you asked for, such as a roast, is ready. We also receive a token from Apple’s DeviceCheck service, which helps us prevent abuse. Practice reminders are scheduled on your iPhone and don’t involve our servers.
- Purchases: the credit packs you buy, your credit balance, the credits each talk used, and transaction identifiers from the App Store. Apple processes your payment; we do not receive your card details.
- Service records: records of requests and their results, error reports from our servers, and records of your acceptance of our terms and this policy.
- Support and privacy requests: your contact details and anything you choose to send us.
- Website visits: technical information needed to deliver the website, such as IP address and browser type. The website does not use cookies or analytics.
How we use it
We use information to create and secure your account, hold conversations with Atlas in Live and Lite, transcribe and review your talks, create recaps, phrases, roasts and pictures, estimate your level and show your progress, remember context between talks, verify purchases and keep your credit balance, send the notifications you ask for, fix problems, prevent misuse, respond to support and privacy requests, and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use your recordings, transcripts or talks to train our own AI models.
Your voice: Live and Lite
Live. During a Live talk, your iPhone streams your voice to Google’s Gemini API so Atlas can hear you and answer in real time. We save a recording of each Live talk so we can build your recap, let you play it back and cut short clips for roasts. We keep the recording until you delete that talk or your account.
Lite. During a Lite talk, your iPhone’s speech recognition turns your voice into text. Apple performs this on your iPhone where your iPhone supports it; otherwise Apple’s servers process it under Apple’s privacy policy. We receive only the text. Atlas’s replies are spoken using Google Cloud Text-to-Speech. We do not record or keep any audio in Lite. We save the text of the talk so Atlas can remember what matters and so you can read it back in your Library.
We do not use your voice to identify you, and we do not create voiceprints. Please practise for yourself. If other people can be heard during a Live talk, make sure they are happy to be recorded.
AI processing
Fluency Studio’s coaching relies on Google’s AI services: the Gemini API for conversations, feedback, recaps, roasts, memory and the pictures for your phrases, and Google Cloud Text-to-Speech for Atlas’s voice in Lite. For each request we send what that request needs: your voice during a Live talk, Live recordings and transcripts, the text of Lite talks, the parts of what Atlas knows about you that shape its replies, and the text of a phrase when your picture style draws one (every style except Text only). We do not send your password or payment details.
We use Google’s paid services. Under Google’s terms for them, Google processes this content to return results to us, may keep it for a limited time to detect abuse, and does not use it to improve its products. We ask for your permission to this processing when you create your account or accept an updated policy. Fluency Studio cannot hold conversations or give feedback without it.
AI results can be inaccurate. Atlas may mishear you, and its corrections, scores, level estimates and roasts can be wrong, as described in our terms of use.
Service providers and disclosures
We use these service providers, which process information on our behalf to provide their services:
- Google: the Gemini API and Cloud Text-to-Speech (described above), and Firebase and Google Cloud for sign-in, sign-in emails, our servers, databases, file storage and error logs.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, speech recognition in Lite, notifications and DeviceCheck.
Fluency Studio does not publish your talks. If you share something from the app using the iPhone share sheet, the people and apps you choose receive what you send and handle it under their own practices.
We may also disclose information when required by law or legal process, to protect the rights, safety or security of people or Fluency Studio, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.
Your choices
- What Atlas knows: in Profile, see what Atlas knows about you, forget any item, export your data as a file or reset Atlas’s memory. You can also add topics to a “Don’t bring up” list, and Atlas won’t raise them.
- Your talks: delete any talk in your Library. Deleting a talk also removes what Atlas learned from it.
- Live or Lite: choose for each talk on Home, and set your default in Profile. Lite records no audio.
- Settings: in Profile, choose a picture style for your phrases (Minimal ink, Soft clay or Photo-like), or Text only for no pictures, and turn notifications and the practice reminder on or off.
- Permissions: manage microphone, speech recognition and notification access in iPhone Settings. Live needs the microphone; Lite needs the microphone and speech recognition.
- AI processing is required for Fluency Studio’s coaching. If you no longer want your information processed this way, stop using the app or delete your account.
Retention and deletion
We keep your account information, talks, Live recordings, transcripts, recaps, phrases, roasts, what Atlas knows about you, settings and policy acceptances while your account exists, unless you delete them sooner. Deleting a talk removes its recording, its text and what was created from it.
To delete your account, open Profile in the app and tap Delete account, at the bottom under Sign out. Deletion removes your account and the talks, recordings, transcripts, notes and settings stored with it from our active systems. We keep records of your purchases after deletion, as needed for accounting, tax, refunds and fraud prevention. Limited records may also remain for a short period in logs and backups, or where we must keep them for legal or security reasons. Information held by Google is handled as described above, and copies you shared with other people remain with them. Unused credits are lost when you delete your account.
Your rights and requests
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain uses, and to withdraw consent. California residents have the rights to know, delete and correct personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
You can export your data and delete it in the app, as described above. For any other request, email support@corefoldlabs.com from the address you use with Fluency Studio. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request, and you may use an authorized agent where the law allows. You may also contact your local data-protection authority.
Security and location
We protect your information with access controls that limit your private records to your account, encryption in transit and restricted administrative access. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
Age requirement
Fluency Studio is for people aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has given us personal information, contact support@corefoldlabs.com and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy as Fluency Studio changes. When we make material changes, we will show the updated policy in the app and ask you to review it before you continue, and we may also notify you by email. Each version shows its effective date, and earlier versions remain available.
